Trail begins in a conifer forest and provides vistas of fresh water lakes, wet areas within the forest and ocean waves. The trail wanders through a tall spruce forest and stops at the serene Threemile Lake and ends at the ocean beach. The trail offers either a difficult trek to the beach or an easy self-guided interpretive loop. The 2.7 miles to the beach may feel even longer as you traverse soft, open sand dunes. The open sand is unmarked due to constantly changing conditions. Hikers are advised to climb the tallest dune to get their bearings.

One of Oregon’s largest and most popular recreation lakes. Fishing is excellent year round with species including large mouth bass, trout, crappie, bluegill, and catfish. The lake is also a favorite for water sports with plenty of large open areas for water skiing, sailing, swimming and more. The location between Coos Bay/North Bend and Winchester Bay in the Oregon Dunes provides easy access to some of the largest dunes on the Oregon Coast.
