Rockaway Beach boasts of seven flat miles of soft sandy beach, perfect for beachcombing, kite flying, or simply drawing in the fresh ocean air while sitting, sunning, or walking along the shore. Favorite activities include steam engine train rides, exploring lakes, ponds and trails, and shopping in the many unique shops of antiques and collectables. Also there are the extravagant local festivals, with kite flying, fabulous fireworks, art, crafts, wine, music, and other activities and themes.  There is even a pirate festival. “”Argh!”” But, the most favorite activity of all, perhaps, is to simply relax to the sounds and sights of the seashore, while taking in the fresh ocean air.

A Great Location and Other Good Stuff…

Rockaway Beach is centrally located to be your base for short excursions to other nearby coastal attractions both north and south. But there is an awful lot to do right there. Peruse an abundance of stores downtown, shops for antiques, unique treats, souvenirs, as well as groceries, etc. Among the shops there are restaurants which cater to most tastes and budgets. The area also has nearby trails and a nature preserve for hiking among old growth trees, with lakes and ponds (on the Eastern side of Hwy 101) from north to south for fishing and boating. A trip to Rockaway Beach bound to be a fond memory for for your family for years.

Though a few of of the national restaurant and hotel/motel chains are represented locally, there are also abundant independent restaurants, cafes, bistros to dine at plus and B&Bs and other local places to stay to accommodate most budgets.
