Manzanita

“A Coastal Jewel”

A Quiet place to Get away from it All…

Manzanita (along with Nehalem and Wheeler) is one of three small towns located on the Pacific Ocean, Nehalem River and Nehalem Bay on the North Oregon Coast. The Nehalem Bay Area is 40 miles south of Astoria and 60 miles north of Lincoln City on Highway 101. Manzanita is a beautiful little oceanside city with seven miles of sandy beach. A quiet place to relax on the shore – enjoy the spectacular sunsets and long walks by the ocean. Manzanita possesses some of the most photographed scenery in Oregon, so don’t forget your camera.

Diminutive Charms of “”Village”” Life…

The small town, almost village-like charm of Manzanita (Spanish for “”little apple””) makes it perfect for travelers who like a quiet, undisturbed setting. For such, perhaps its greatest appeal could be its lack of box department stores and noisy streets. This is a place to come and Relax with a capitol “”R””. There are, however, many small businesses, art galleries, shops, and intimate cafes on or around Laneda Street, the town’s center. Small, well maintained motels and vacation rentals can also be found on the main thoroughfare, mere walking distance from beaches.

Arts and other Attractions…

Manzanita has a small but thriving art center and a vibrant arts community and has been referred to by some as the “”Carmel”” of Oregon. Summer attractions range from community theater to musical performances. Nearby Nehalem is a magnet for bluegrass performances during its annual Bluegrass at the Beach workshops. Oswald West State Park, north of Manzanita, is also a favorite for wildlife viewing, tide-pool exploring and surfing.

Dining and Accommodations

Small, well-maintained motels, B&Bs and vacation rentals can be found on Manzanita’s main street, mere walking distance from beaches. Several small, intimate cafes and restaurants are clustered around its downtown sector.
